Srirupa Prasad (PhD, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) is Assistant Professor in Women’s and Gender Studies and Sociology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her book, The Cultural Politics of Hygiene in India, 1890-1940: Contagions of Feeling will be coming out in September 2015, published by Palgrave Macmillan. Her research interests include the history and anthropology of India and South Asia, women’s and gender histories of India and South Asia, history of medicine, postcolonial studies, body studies, and affect theory. She has taught courses on Gender in India, Women and Health in a Transnational Perspective, Feminist Methodologies, Sociology of Health, and Sociology of Body.
